![]() Our GPU reviews do a good job of giving a broad overview of the performance from the latest graphics cards on a smaller subset of games, and it's basically impossible to test every new GPU on every game at the time of launch. ![]() S omething we've wanted to do more in the past is to provide smaller updates looking at the performance of recent game releases. Of course part of that stems from the use of super-sampling anti-aliasing at the highest quality settings, but even without SSAA Metro: Last Light can be a beast. We've been using Metro: Last Light as one of our gaming performance benchmarks almost since it first came out in May, 2013, and it's still one of the most demanding games around. Fundamentally, that means less for Metro: Last Light than it does for Metro 2033, but there are still some visual changes, and that potentially means performance changes as well. The games have both been remastered using the latest version of 4A Engine, with updates for the latest generation of console hardware among other things. All apps using the NVIDIA GPU will cease to work.Last month 4A Games released updated versions of the two earlier games in the Metro series, Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. Sometimes, the laptop will randomly freeze, turn black for a second then come back, but there is an exclamation mark icon in the icon bar in the bottom right. It may or may not be related to the GPU problem, but the laptop also has random freezes. I have already done a system restore and reinstalled the GPU driver. ![]() My head is starting to boil, since this is the latest in a chain of problems I've had after installing Windows 10. The only applications that use the GPU and don't crash are Minecraft (basically Java applications) and TerraTech. Some main examples are opening Geometry Dash (in which case the graphics card crashes), opening Kerbal Space Program (in which case the graphics card also crashes), editing videos in Vegas Pro 13 (in which case I once got a blue screen), and Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition (can you guess?. It happens almost every time it gets put into use. Lately I've been extremely frustrated with the GPU in my laptop constantly crashing. ![]()
